There are plenty of differences in our society. Such as male and female, homosexual and heterosexual, black and white, and many others. These differences are what makes the society who they are. Some differences are becoming less prevalent like black and whites. Others are becoming more prevalent at the same time like women and men, and heterosexual and homosexual.
African Americans were the main focus of racists groups for a long time. It was all started when they were used as slaves. They had to work on plantations and follow all the Caucasians mans rules. Then they were were set free and slavery was made illegal. This did not make them equal though. They still couldn't vote and people were very discriminatory they had to even go to separate schools. The African Americans were then helped again and they could vote and they were given all the rights of the white Caucasian person. Now African Americans are given the same rights but some people still see them as less of a person and are racist. This makes it hard on them still but at least they have the same exact rights as everyone else, and most people see them as equal.
In today's times women and men don't even seem like they are of the same species. Especially because of the way that the media shows each of these individuals. Men are seen as strong, able to take care of others, and are the ones that save the day in many ads and TV commercials. This is very different then they way that women are seen through the same type of advertisements. Women are seen as delicate and always in the need of saving. They are shown in ways that make then seem vulnerable and out of control while men always look like they are in control. These differences are separating out the equality of sexes. They are making people believe that men should do all the hard work and support for the family, while the women is just there to feed the occupies needs.
Heterosexual and homosexuals are also becoming the big talk during this century too. Lately more and more homosexuals have come out of the closet asking for the same rights that heterosexuals have in getting married. This is creating many differences across the world. This is because heterosexuals are allowed to get married under the law, but homosexuals are not able to get married under the national law. They can only get married in certain states. These people are also discriminated in many ways, like the fagbug where people wrote over her car because she was a lesbian.
As seen in this video of Modern Family people close to gay people don’t even like to tell others that they know someone that is gay. In this video the dad of a gay son is hanging out with his friends. Then his son comes up to talk to him and he didn't want to tell his friends that his son was gay because he didn't want to be embarrassed. This video shows how people really aren’t excepting of homosexuals yet.
I think that homosexuals should get the same rights as heterosexuals. This is because they are people too and they should be allowed to get the same rights. They should also be seen as real people because they are still real people and they don’t deserve to be looked at weird. By now this should be an accepted practice.
